The APCC announces new Chair
After two years as Chair, Nicholas Ross is stepping down as APCC Chair with effect from 7th February 2018, as minuted at our board meeting of the same date. Nick will continue a director of the APCC, which continues to support the wide reach within our board.
Terence Clark, as current deputy Chair will succeed Nick in the position of Chair, and Ian Beardmore has been appointed as our new Deputy Chair. This provides continued succession and strengthens the APCC board for the foreseeable future.
A note from the new Chair
We would like to thank Nick on behalf of all the board and APCC members for his hard work during this time and under his stewardship we have seen the Association move forward at a pace and increase its profile amongst the profession. It is also important to acknowledge that Nick led the search for the APCC’s CEO and was instrumental in helping to obtain the services of Nick Hawke and then helping establish the robust new Governance structure which we are now implementing at a pace.
For those who do not know me in any great detail, I have been in the financial service arena since 1980 with the first 25 years working in an employee benefits / IFA and mortgages. Then moving into a wider role which encompassed general insurance and specifically compliance. These activities being undertaken within brokers and insurers. I joined the compliance consultancy community in 1998 and am currently Chair of RWA Compliance Services Ltd.
I am looking forward to working closely with our CEO Nick Hawke, the rest of the Executive team and board of directors to drive the APCC forward, to increase its professional presence, widen its audience, increase its membership and strengthen its contact and relationships with all regulators, not just the FCA. The Financial Services landscape is ever shifting and faces many challenges in the future, some known such as Brexit, but many unknown and a robust professional association with a strong presence will be well placed to represent its members across all sectors and disciplines.
I look forward to seeing many of you at the Spring Conference in London and please do not forget this is your association and myself and the board welcome all your input, so please let us know what you think and if you have any suggestions or thoughts as to how we can develop going forward, please let us know.
A note from the new Deputy Chair
I am looking forward in assisting the team in performing a strategic as well as operational role. This includes representing the Association at events, at meetings with other associations / regulators as well as chairing working groups and attending and participating in the board meetings.
I am keen to assist and support the Chair in providing leadership to the Association, through the governance arrangements and act as a ‘sounding board’ and confidante to the Chair in the execution of their role and to support and encourage the Board and the Chief Executive / Chief Operating Officer in carrying out the vision, mission, values and aims and ambitions of the Association.
My personal vision for the APCC moving forward is to assist in delivering the APCC’s mission to become the most valued trade association for Compliance Consultants and to demonstrate their professionalism in being APCC members. I look to improve the culture and ethics of our industry by building relationships with other associations who most of our members clients will be aligned with in one-way shape or other, I believe this is key to delivering a uniformed approach to dealing with the regulators (that is not just the FCA). A great example to our members and key stakeholders of our professionalism, values and vision will be in the implementation of our CEO’s proposed corporate strategy plan.
