Culture Event

The APCC is excited to present a highly interactive half-day workshop, on 9th May 2018 at the offices of Duff and Phelps, 14th Floor, The Shard 32 London Bridge Street, London SE1 9SG. Registration is at 12.30pm for a 1pm start finishing around 4pm.

Compliance consultants have a critical role to play; but as a consultant, how do you stand out from your competitors and be best placed to have clients want to work with you?

We bring together thought leaders from the industry and the FCA to deliver a view on how YOU assist your firm deliver a strong, resilient and healthy compliance culture for the long term. The “golden thread” running through the conference will be winning strategies for consultants who genuinely want to make a difference.

The challenge will be looked at through six different but interconnected lenses: The conference will focus upon five main areas:

  • Brand and ‘compliance’: What is brand and how does this relate to the compliance industry and you as a consultant
  • Compliance as a career: Looking at Compliance as a career option, how are we really perceived in the marketplace, how do we compare to other professional service providers, and what steps could we/should we take to enhance market perception and offer more education and apprenticeship modules?
  • What do your clients want: How can we support our clients in terms of knowing what the right thing to do is, and having the courage to do it? How do we contribute to them achieving diversity & improve their own business performance?
  • Self-awareness: How familiar are we with our own behaviour preferences, do we appreciate that other people may have different preferences, and how can we develop the will and the skill to adapt our behaviour to better match that of our clients and colleagues, with the result that we can achieve results which otherwise may not have been possible? (David)

There will also be a session from the FCA on their own compliance and culture, as well as looking forward to structuring education, training and apprenticeship programmes within the industry.

The sessions will be led by; -

David Mellor: David as a published expert in this area and an Honorary Senior Visiting Fellow in the Facility of Finance at Cass Business School where he runs sessions on Entrepreneurship, Corporate Entrepreneurship, Managing Strategic Change and Leading High-Performance Teams.

Patrick Voss: Patrick is a Strategy Director in the compliance team at Duff & Phelps. He also runs a consultancy which helps companies look at changing culture to be more effective as well as focusing minds on the most effective strategy to make an impact in their markets.

Gordon Findlay: Gordon works at the FCA, underpinning their communications and strategy programmes, as well as overseeing the FCA’s graduate intake into the regulator.

Julie Ampadu – APCC Director and Leader of the Apprenticeships Working Group, there will be an open forum on the future of compliance career pathways, and apprenticeship programmes.
